A kit list so you can plan early and ask Father Christmas for anything that you need. Make sure that you have well worn in boots.
Clothing
- Walking boots with ankle support
- Trainers etc for wearing about the camp
- Waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers.
- Walking socks
- Explorer Shirt and Scarf
- Camp T-shirt
- Trousers - Jeans must not be worn for activities
- Shorts
- T-shirts (short and / or long sleeve)
- Jumpers/ fleeces
- Towel/ wash kit
- Underwear etc.
- Spare clothing - don't forget that the weather can change very quickly in the mountains.
- A pair of gloves or mittens and a hat
- Neckerchief and hat - for protection against the elements.
Rucksack/ Bags
- Daysack for day / overnight hikes (20-40 litre). Always wrap things inside the rucksack in waterproof bags.
- Larger rucksack or hold-all for everything else (do not use a suitcase)
Other Personal Items
- Sunglasses, sun screen (at least factor 15) and lip salve.
- Emergency food for the hike (chocolate, dried fruit etc.)
- Water bottle 2 litres. (or 2x 1litre)
- Personal first aid kit, with any special medications.
- Insect repellent
Useful extras
- Whistle
- Torch + spare batteries
- Camera
- Pen and paper
- Sheet / Sleeping bag liner (for overnight stay in mountain hut)
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping mat
- Pillow
- Tent – please bear in mind that if the tent is a ‘3 person’ tent you will only be able to fit two of you plus a week’s kit in it.
- Strong metal pegs - the ground is very stony
- Passport!

- Money (max CHF100) – to be handed in to camp bank

Notes:
- Given variable weather we have had in past years in Aug - you do need full range of gear! We have been burnt to a crisp and also had the camp on duckboards because of the rain!
- You do need to have the required mountain gear, or they do not let you up the hills
